Here's to the real talents out there. Thanks for sharing your work with us, guys and girls. :)

THE STORIES...

A Christmas Story

The FIRST long fanfic I ever read, and it's still a favorite. This story is like warm apple cider on a winter night...it'll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It's a good, old-fashioned story with a plot untried by any other author. If you haven't read it yet, GO NOW.

A Tale of Two Popstars

Cuteness.  Seriously.  If you were to look up "cuteness" in the dictionary...well, it probably wouldn't be there, lol, but if it WAS a word, this story would be the definition.  Like a romantic comedy with a great, giggle-worthy trailer, this story will worm it's way into your heart and make you smile.  The two characters are stubborn to a fault, but the moments where the stubbornness falls absent make the story.  Love is what happens when you're not looking.  Go see what the characters are trying to pass by... :)

Between The Lines

This story deals with the Backstreet Boys as Seattle Mariners. While they don't sing, they make wonderful characters, and the author is quite a storyteller, and I found myself laughing, crying, and cheering along with the characters. This is one of those stories that you feel...definitely an excellent read. :)

Cover Me With Dreams

Anything I'm going to say about this story would trivialize it, but I was immediately amazed by the originality of the leading female character.  This is a Nick story, but it's more of a love story...a tale of unconditional love that never dies.  More than anything, it's real, and it will make you believe in happy endings all over again.  The writer is brilliant, and her characters will stay with you for a long time, as will their story. :)

Crescent Bay

By Chandrah. This story IS romance at its best. The whole story will rope you in from the very beginning...Chandrah writes realistically and with a sense of peace. It's an incredible story; one you can read over and over again.

Not Distance, Not Time

By Lumien. This story screams originality, bleeds drama, and radiates something inexplicably addicting. The story is set about sixteen years in the future, and Howie is raising AJ's daughter after AJ abandoned her. If you want a story that aches with love and broken hearts--both in the family sense and the romantic sense--READ THIS. Lumien is an incredible writer, and the tale she's woven will worm its way into your heart for a long time after. :)

Oreos for Breakfast

Written by Paperbag Princess and Pumpkin Coach, this story is exactly like a really good chick rock album.  It's cute, it's fun, it's funky, and it's romantic, all at once.  At the same time, it's entirely original.  Nick and Rachel are two characters that I fell in love with from the get-go, and the truth in their moods and their attitudes towards each other will have you on the edge of your seat, cooing at the computer.  This is how all relationships should be, how I wish that love would turn out for all of us who went looking for it.  Get yourself hooked, and go look into getting another chick rock album. ;)

Ugly Ducklings

Written by KS Angel, this story is everything that used to be good about fan fiction.  It has a believeable plot line, a likeable female lead, and a slew of characters that become more like friends than people on a page.  Abby and Nick's relationship is precious, and you'll immediately fall in love with them and their cluelessness.  This story is all about independence and natural progression.  It's beautiful.

THE SITES...
(because some of these authors have written too many wonderful stories to single out just one)

Backstreet Bauhaus

A link and a summary for each of some 1000+ fan fictions on the net. This site is a great way to find exactly what you're looking for, and these ladies have even listed their favorite picks in the instance that we're looking for the best of the best. A must-visit on a rainy afternoon, or any time when you're looking for entertainment. :)

Felicity Fiction

Home to some of the net's finest Backstreet fiction and run by the extremely talented DJ, Felicity Fiction is DEFINITELY a place to go if you're looking for a quality read. They were also kind enough to link me, lol. Each and every one of their works is worth the read, but my personal recommendations are the Gemini Series and "Anissa's Courage". Deej is an incredible writer, and the ladies she hosts are just as talented.

Heart and Soul

All of Maria's fanfics are intelligently woven and filled with suspense. She's famous for cliffhangers at the end of her chapters, and her site boasts the well-known "Still Waters Run Deep". She writes a Nick that's both aggravating, intriguing, and undeiably human.  She was also another one of those authors kind enough to link to my site, lol.  This lady will have you whining, praying, crying, and smiling with the characters.  Definitely worth the trip.

Sometimes Wishes Come True

She's currently going by J-Kat. This girl is SO funny that you will literally laugh until you cry enough to keep Puffs in business for a year. Her stories are clever and sarcastic with just enough romance to keep you cooing at the computer and enough wit to keep you smirking. Every story has it's own unique blend of characters. Even her short stories are well-written and brilliant. Plus, any girl who can lock Nick Carter in a dressing room at Abercrombie & Fitch for story purposes deserves recognition all her own. :)

The Perfect Fans

If you haven't heard of Whitney yet, you must be living under a rock. :) Her site is INCREDIBLE. Her stories allow you a glimpse into not only the individual minds of the Boys, but also into their friendships with each other. She writes in such a way that one can't help but do anything besides read. Every story listed is excellent, and there's not one I'd recommend more than the others. If you appreciate good writing, read her stories. She's WONDERFUL. :)

Walking In The Clouds

I'll compliment Bobbi to anyone who'll listen, lol. Every story on this site is worth taking the time to read, and she's famous in the fanfic world for her original plots and believeable scenarios. Every one of her stories pulls you in to the point that you laugh and cry with the characters she's created. I can't pick just one favorite, but both Trilogies are musts.  You'll be entertained for days.

World (this link is currently down)

I'm not much of an *NSYNC fan.  I don't read *NSYNC fan fiction.  I rarely listen to *NSYNC music.  I REALLY rarely watch anything that they're on...in fact, I usually change the channel.  This girl writes *NSYNC fiction, but it could be anyone's fiction. She makes you feel people like you haven't before, touches parts of her characters that are ugly in everyday life and makes them seem beautiful.  She takes the faces we know and makes the people within them shine through.  She's incredible.  Thanks to J-Kat for the recommendation...I'm all the better for having read this author's work.  Fiction...really good fiction...is for everyone.

FRIENDS AND/OR SISTER SITES :o)
('Cause I've met a lot of really cool people lately...)

Amy's Backstreet Fan Fiction

The word "Amy" is now synonymous with "talent". This site is home to the wonderfully acclaimed "Music of Her Heart" as well as short stories like "One True Friend" and "Raining On Our Love" and longer stories like "Ship of Dreams". As if the long list of entertaining and surprisingly original fiction isn't enough, she's also an incredible songwriter. Finally, she's a wonderful friend. :)

Backstreet Nights

This is Veronica's site.  Home to excellent stories like "Change My Ways", "The Intimate Series", and "...Or Someone Else Will", I fell in love with her fiction before I found her mail in my box.  In addition to managing the review section of the wonderful Backstreet Bauhaus, Veronica writes original stories that will pull you in, and her distinct characters will stay with you long after the story is over.  Click and visit...it will definitely be worth your time. :)

More Than Words Fan Fiction

If you're looking for good fan fiction, this is the place to find it.  Not because the hostesses are picky, but because the only fan fiction found here is recommended by authors who write good fan fiction (and how the wonderful webmistresses came to include me in this, I'll never know, lol).  Only the best stories are linked, and you can also find the sites of the chosen authors when the recommendations have all been read.  This is Jess's creation, and I couldn't be happier to have discovered it.  This is the home for the proverbial "needle in a haystack" fics that one can't help reading over and over again.  When you're stuck and ready to read, venture into this wonderful domain.  You won't regret it.

Obscure Thoughts

Wow.  Wow a thousand times over. If you haven't seen this lovely site yet, you are being SERIOUSLY deprived of wonderful fan fiction.  Jess (the extremely cool chica mentioned above) shares her writing talents here along with Soxy, Brynn, Jules, and Leila.  Famed at first by the adorable "Tale of Two Popstars", this site is chock-full of heartwarming tales of love, loss, and magnificent normalcy.  I've never found so many stories that I can relate to...but every single piece of writing keeps me coming back for more.  Visit just this once, kids...you'll be hooked.

Wakey Wakey

Recognize the name of this site?  You should.  Wakey Wakey, home to the lovely Emma, is famous for such fics as "I Don't Want You, I Just Need You", "Dressing The Part", and "Not So Invisible Now".  Known for her extraordinary female characters, her unique story lines, and her realistic portrayal of the world's greatest boy band, Em will draw you into a world in which love means winning and losing again and again.  She's a literary genius, she updates frequently, AND she's a Nick and Alli fan.  What more do you need to know?  Click the link. ;-)
